Mrs. Ima Odessia Coffey Kitchens Prather, age 92, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home.

 

She was born February 7, 1920 in Antimony City, Arkansas.  She worked in the poultry industry for many years and was a member of the Almond Church of God.

 

Mrs. Prather was preceded in death by her parents, Carter and Goldia Mae Almond Coffey; her two husbands, Ted A. Kitchens and Albert P. (Big Boy) Prather; two brothers, Urstin and Burley Coffey; four sisters, Illfay Frachiseur, Dorothy Jackson, Melba Dockins and Vernona Hargis; two sons, Lavoy and Clois Kitchens; one daughter, Violet Richards; two grandsons, Brian James and Michael Kitchens; and four step-sons, Ted, Tommy, Jake and Henry (Tooks) Kitchens.

 

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel Truman and Susan Kitchens and Cleatis and Barbara Kitchens; four daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Chenoweth, Majol Wheeler, Gerselta Halter and Laveda and Johnny Reed; 22 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Prather will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Steven Chenoweth and Edward Kitchens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 4th at the funeral home in Dierks.

So sorry about your mother's death. Know she must be in a much better place. She had seen some dramatic changes during her lifetime. Have been thinking of you during this difficult time.

Hey you guys,, I am so sorry I couldn't make it!!! I would have love to have been there!!!! But i was already going to off work 2 day this week... and the boss could make it 3.... She is at peace now. We really enjoyed our visits with Ima. She was a very sweet lady and will be missed by all.

A great woman who greatly influenced me early in life. It was always a great joy to see Aunt Ima on my trips with Dad as a boy and later on my own to show her off to my family. We'll grieve here but rejoice with her soon. I know she's already starting a garden for us in heaven.
